What can you do outside class to improve your English? October 3, 2007

This is a list of things that you can do on your own to practice or improve your English:

  1.  Read. Internet (sports, news, song lyrics, hobbies, ESL sites, e-books, magazines, newspapers…). Books from the library (read something that is at your level and that you can enjoy).
  2. Listen to music in English.
  3. Sing in English.
  4. Chat in English over the Internet.
  5. Read/Speak and record your own voice.
  6. Visit the class website and choose something you may enjoy doing.
  7. Join an English club.
  8. Keep a journal.
  9. Make English speaking friends.
  10. Travel to English speaking countries.
  11. Borrow listening material from other students/teacher.
  12. Watch movies in English (with or without subtitles).
  13. Watch TV in English (series, cartoons, news…).
  14. Play computer games set in English.
  15. Use DVDs that teach you English.
